Domestic Heating Oil Storage Tanks

At TB Tanks, we manufacture a complete range of domestic heating oil storage tanks — engineered in the UK, compliant with current regulations, and finished to a high standard for long-lasting performance.

All tanks are built from 2.5mm carbon steel, finished in Mid Brunswick Green (BS226), and fitted with standard fill, vent, and drain points. We offer each size in two variants:

• Single Skin – cost effective storage where regulations allow.
• Bunded – double-wall containment for extra protection, required in many domestic settings.

Technical Features

• Material: 2.5 mm carbon steel with full internal bracing.
• Finish: Mid Brunswick Green (BS226) protective coating.
• Fittings:
  • 2″ fill point and vent (with lids).
  • 1 ½″ BSP female point for optional clock or ultrasonic gauge.
  • ¾″ rear drain with plug.

Installation & Siting

• Base: Non-combustible, imperforate, level base (150 mm concrete recommended, 300 mm beyond tank footprint)
• Fire Safety Distances:
  • 1.8m from non fire related buildings/openings
  • 1.8 from flue terminals
  • 760 mm from boundaries (e.g. fences)
  • 600 mm from foliage/screening
• If distances can’t be met: Install a 30-minute fire-rated barrier (300 mm clearance) or house the tank within a 60-minute fire-rated chamber indoors.
